NinjaTrader 8
Beta
Copiix for NinjaTrader 8 is currently in Beta. The core trade copying functionality is the same as on MT4, MT5 and cTrader (see Terminals Overview for everything that applies across all platforms) - this page only covers what's different about installing and starting it on NinjaTrader 8.
NinjaTrader 8 integrates Copiix as a NinjaScript strategy. Unlike MT4, MT5 and cTrader, NinjaTrader 8 doesn't provide a way for third-party software to install or start a strategy automatically - a couple of manual steps inside NinjaTrader are required.
Requirements
- NinjaTrader 8 installed and connected to your account
- Copiix Console running on your system
Installation
Copiix Console cannot install itself directly into NinjaTrader 8 the way it does for MT4, MT5 and cTrader - NinjaTrader has no API for third-party apps to import a strategy automatically. Instead, the Console extracts the compiled Copiix package to its local Robots folder, and you complete the import manually:
- Open Copiix Console and click Install Terminals (or just launch the Console - the package is extracted automatically on startup). You'll find
Copiix-NT8.zipin the Console's Robots folder. - Open NinjaTrader 8. From the Control Center, go to Tools → Import NinjaScript...
- Select
Copiix-NT8.zipfrom the Robots folder and confirm the import. - Wait for the "Compiled successfully" message in the Log/Output window.
Starting Copiix
- Open (or create) a chart for the instrument you want to run Copiix on.
- Right-click the chart → Strategies... → select Copiix from the Available list → click add.
- NinjaTrader shows the strategy properties dialog. This confirmation step cannot be skipped or automated - unlike MT4/MT5 (drag-and-drop the EA) or cTrader (Add to Chart + Play), NinjaTrader always requires you to review and accept this dialog before the strategy starts.
- The important defaults are already pre-filled correctly for you:
- Calculate: On each tick
- Start behavior: Immediately submit
- Bars required to trade: 1
- Enabled: checked
- Click OK. Make sure Enabled is checked - if it isn't, Copiix won't run.
- Copiix starts and creates its local setup file on first run. Open the Copiix Console to complete the configuration (provider/copyer mode, webhooks, filters, money management, etc.), exactly as you would for MT4, MT5 or cTrader.
Known limitation: manual removal
NinjaTrader 8 does not provide a way for a strategy to detach itself from the chart (unlike MT4/MT5's ExpertRemove() or cTrader's Stop()). If a Copiix session is closed from the Console, the strategy correctly stops trading and the Enabled checkbox in the Strategies panel is automatically unchecked - but you still need to manually remove it from the chart (Strategies panel → select Copiix → remove) before starting a new session there.
For everything else - provider/copyer configuration, webhooks, money management, filters, trade lifecycle - Copiix on NinjaTrader 8 works exactly like on the other platforms. See Terminals Overview and Console Parameters.
